Your financial support is a lifeline for families seeking home birth and facing economic challenges during pregnancy. Most home birth providers do not accept insurance for their services (insurances constant benefit denials or underpaying their services), forcing clients to pay out of pocket. More families are reading the research on positive maternal outcomes from hiring a doula, seeking childbirth education, receiving acupuncture, physical therapy and chiropractic care prenatally and during postpartum. In addition, they must get birth supplies necessary to be prepared to experience birth at home. Along with the recognition towards optimal maternal birth outcomes, comes the financial obstacles that are overwhelming and can be detrimental for many families that cannot afford care.

How Your Money Works:
- Clients must apply, state their hardship, and tell us who their midwife is.
- Midwives in the community will register with BER, exercise birth outcome transparency and pay a small annual fee to be known to the fund.
- Midwives must show that they are also giving a minimum discount to clients facing financial hardship who apply for a scholarship.
